GSS TECHNOLOGY

GSS protection is based on a complete system with three integral components and all three are critical to ensure maximum protection. Through this system, GSS is able to offer better protection levels than currently provided by other window safety and security films.

The protection level obtained depends on

• The thickness and construction of the safety and security film,
• The thickness and construction of the glass, and
• The quality and nature of the bond between the film, adhesives and the glass
  

The GSS system has been extensively tested to offer the following benefits when applied to existing / ordinary glass:

• Human impact – makes the glass safe for accidental human impact, so that if it breaks, the system will protect from sharp pieces of glass that can cut and injure.
  
  
• High impact – strengthens the glass itself up to 400% and makes it more difficult to break.
  
  
• High intruder resistance – even if the glass cracks, the system holds the glass together in the frame, making it virtually impenetrable.
  
  
• Ballistics and bomb blast protection – enables bullet resistant properties on much thinner glass with cost saving implications on framing and glazing; protects from internal fire damage during petrol bomb attacks.
  
  
• UV resistance – filters out up to 99% of harmful UV rays to protect property from damage (fading fabric etc.) Tinted architectural films offer extra solar protection (glare reduction etc.) and privacy.
  
  
• Energy efficiency - equates to a reduction in summer / retention in winter of up to 4 degrees Celsius on the interior temperature, with significance to air conditioning / heating costs. An overall energy saving of up to 12 000 BTU's / Hr per 100 sq. ft. of sunlight windows DURING daylight hours. (Contributes to a higher Green Star Rating.)
